All that Glitters is Gold

Throughout history, gold has shimmered brightly. There are many myths and legends about the metal, such as the story of King Midas and his golden touch. Gold symbolizes the eternal powers of the divine. Plus, one of the oldest pieces of jewelry is a 6,600 year old golden bead. It’s little wonder that all these centuries later we still enjoy timeless gold treasures of our own. At Komara, we adore this shining metal in all of its forms, whether it's yellow, white or rose gold. Each different type of gold is unique and appealing in its own way. Let’s explore these three styles of metal to discover how all that glitters is truly gold.

Golden Basics

Gold is actually blended with other metals to create the pieces we cherish. This is because pure gold is too soft to stand alone and needs other metals to make the jewelry hard enough to hold. Plus, without combining metals, we wouldn’t get the gorgeous variety of gold we see.

First off, yellow gold has the classic “gold” appearance. To give it this look, it's paired with metals such as copper, zinc and nickel. By contrast, white gold has a silvery-white look to it. This is because it’s mixed with like-colored metals such as palladium and silver. Last but not least, rose gold has that unique pink color to it because it’s combined with copper.

Styling Each Type

Since yellow, white and rose gold are each one-of-a-kind, it only makes sense to honor that by wearing them differently. Here are some ways to style the various types of gold so that they’ll shine radiantly.

Yellow Gold

18-Karat Yellow Gold Diamond Bezel Necklace

Yellow gold often steals the spotlight due to its luminous amber tones. Because yellow gold is so brilliant, it’s best to make it the star of the show. Take this lovely example of our Simon G 18-Karat Yellow Gold Diamond Bezel Necklace. The diamonds intertwined with the lustrous yellow gold make for a dazzling duo.

White Gold

14-Karat White Gold and Sapphire

White gold is beloved for its sparkly silver appearance. When styling this metal, add some vibrance by picking a piece with a colored gemstone. For example, these 14-Karat White Gold and Sapphire huggies are simply dazzling. The neutral composite of white gold makes rich colors like sapphire, turquoise, ruby and magenta look all the more daring and powerful.

Rose Gold

The unique composite of rose gold creates a soft and warm pink color. Pairing this blush tone with other neutral colors can create a trendy monochromatic look. With the color being light and feminine, choose a simple piece of jewelry to compliment that. Our favorite pick is this rose gold and diamond fashion ring. The delicate diamonds perfectly pair with the hue of this metal.

Glitter Brightly with Komara

Your preference of gold is based on your own individual fashion sense, but there’s never a wrong way to wear this timeless metal. From shimmering pendants to shining earrings, gold will forever glitter brightly. And at Komara Jewelers, there are endless choices just waiting for you. So, don’t be a stranger.
